Offering comprehensive training
programmes for schools
All our programmes are delivered by
an experienced General Practitioner
and Nursing Sister and will increase
the safety and wellbeing of your
students and staff.
First
Aid training

This session will teach
participants how to
recognise and respond
appropriately to common
first aid problems within
the school. These will
include:
- Minor head injuries
- What to do with a
bleeding nose
- Dealing with a
laceration
- Use and indications
of the anaphylaxis drug Epipen
- Basic
cardio-pulmonary
resuscitation skills
including a practical
workshop
- Recognising a
fracture
At the end of this course
participants will feel
confident in recognising and
dealing with problems until
further appropriate medical
intervention. |
| Asthma

This common respiratory
disease affects over 1.1m
children in the UK. One in
10 children aged 2-15 may
have asthma at any time. Our
asthma programme will help
teachers and staff feel
confident in maintaining a
child’s safety within the
school environment. At the
end of the course all the
participants will:
- Understand the
disease of asthma
- Be able to identify
the signs and symptoms
of asthma at various
stages from early
presentation to asthma
emergencies
- Be confident at
managing a child with
asthma
- Have hands on
experience using various
inhalers
- Have the information
required to be kept on
the child’s record and
what needs to be shared
with the school team

Sexual
Health

This is a complex area which
our programme will handle
both professionally and
sensitively. Young people
today have many streams of
information open to them
that were not previously
available. Our programme is
aimed to be presented to the
children themselves, and our
aim is to empower children
to make safe choices in the
following areas:
- Contraception
- Sexually transmitted
infections, recognising
the signs and educating
on where and how to seek
help
- Relationships and
sexual activity
- The law and public
policy on sex

Diabetes

This is a life-long
condition which is becoming
more common in all age
groups. Our programme will
give teachers and staff the
knowledge and confidence to
effectively manage diabetes
within the school
environment. At the end of
the course, participants
will be able to:
- Recognise the signs
and symptoms of diabetes
- Identify how the
school environment
impacts on the child
with diabetes
- Understand the
burden of young people
living with diabetes
- Understand the
various ways that
diabetes is treated
- Be confident in
dealing with advice to
diabetics as well as
managing diabetic
emergencies

| Mental
Health

This programme is aimed
at teachers and will inform
participants of the variety
of mental illnesses that are
likely to be encountered in
schools. At the end of the
course you will be able to:
- Recognise the signs
and symptoms of mental
problems
- Learn simple
techniques on how to
discuss and assess the
extent of the mental
health problem
- Recognise the impact
of living with
significant mental
health either for the
pupil or members of
their family
- Be aware of
anti-depressants and
other drugs commonly
used
- Be confident in
dealing with mental
health emergencies
