If you are aged between 5 and 19 and have NOT had 2 MMR vaccine injections please contact the surgery to make an appointment for a catch-up. Sexual health advice for everyone

YOUNG PEOPLE

We would like to think we are as friendly as possible to young people. We do realise that the practice can often seem a difficult place to deal with but we are here to help. Conversations that you have with us are confidential, that means we do not discuss them with other people.

You do NOT have to tell the Receptionist why you need to see the doctor.

If you need to fit in around school times then we will do our best. If you think you need emergency contraception (the "morning after" pill): You simply contact the surgery and ask for an URGENT APPOINTMENT. You DON'T have to explain why. If it is a weekend, contact your local pharmacy as some pharmacies also provide this service.

We have recently become a C Card outlet - this means that if you are aged 24 or below you are entitled to free condoms/sexual protective aids. You can collect these here from the surgery.

Also, tell us what you would like to have information about on this section of the web site, use the contact us form and write to the Practice Manager.

HPV Update: Catch-up programme

CHLAMYDIA TESTING.                                                                                   Chlamydia is the most commonly diagnosed sexually transmitted infection(STI) in the UK. It is most common in men and women under 25. Chlamydia is easily passed from one person to another through ANY form of unprotected sex. If left untreated chlamydia can cause pain in the pelvis, infertility and eptopic pregnancy. This risk is increased if you get the infection again & again.

The chlamydia test is free, simple, completely confidential and optional. The test is available at Chew Medical Practice and self-testing kits are available at the Surgery which can be returned to Surgery for processing or sent directly to the testing facility by post.

For more information including symptoms and other test locations please click on this link  http://www.chlamydiascreening.nhs.uk/
